The Eganville Curling Club was founded in 1951 by a group of local enthusiasts who had been travelling to other towns to play. A group was formed and a two-sheet structure was built near the site of the current ice hockey arena. After a few years, additional funds were raised and an artificial ice plant was installed to greatly improve playing conditions and lengthen the season.

However, after twenty years, the original building was in poor condition and a new two-sheet rinkwith clubhouse was built on the current site at Legion Memorial Field.

The winter of 1976 proved to be a severe one, the snow accumulation on the roof caused it to collapse, threatening the club’s existence. This required a transformation of the club from a formerly privately held organization to one community operated but municipally held. The new public ownership structure  made possible the acquisition of Wintario capital funding and the roof was rebuilt.

Since then, the Eganville Curling Club has continued to provide recreational opportunity for local residents. Very recent upgrades include new lighting, on-ice cameras (over all four houses) and video monitors, and fresh paint inside and out.

It is hoped that the club will grow and be a vital part of the Eganville and area for many years to come!
